Private instruction:
I taught violin privately in my home from 2001 to 2021. During that time I had students qualify for the UIL state-level competition (TSSEC) on fifteen occasions, including two instances of winning Outstanding Soloist awards. A great many of my students participated in region orchestras and the Youth Orchestras of San Antonio (YOSA) and on numerous occasions earned principal and other titled positions. I had a student qualify for the TMEA All-State Philharmonic Orchestra; she has since earned a master's degree in violin performance from a world-renowned conservatory and embarked on a career as a professional performer and violin teacher. Four of my former students majored in violin studies in college.

I taught all levels, beginner through professional, and all ages. For beginning and intermediate students, I ordinarily used the Suzuki books through Volume 4, then transitioned into individually-tailored repertoire. My teaching style reflected my own training; although I used Suzuki publications in teaching some students, I was not a strict adherent of the Suzuki method. I incorporated instruction in music theory and music history into my teaching as appropriate.
